Samuel R. Ducote

Originally from Hackberry, Louisiana, Samuel was born and raised in Cameron Parish. Samuel attended McNeese State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with honors, before attending LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law Center for his legal education.

While at LSU Law, Samuel excelled inside and outside the classroom. During his first semester of law school, Samuel received a CALI award in Legal Traditions & Systems (an award granted to the student achieving the highest grade in a law school course). In his second year, Samuel's professors selected him to serve as their teaching assistant and academic tutor for the first-year courses of Legal Traditions & Systems and Obligations. Samuel also served as graduate editor for LSU's esteemed Journal of Civil Law Studies in his final year.

Outside of the classroom, Samuel was equally active. He served as a research assistant for Professor Lecia Vicente, researching emerging legal issues related to corporate governance. Samuel also participated in several written and oral advocacy competitions. In addition to competing in LSU Laws' prestigious Deans Cup and Robert L Tullis Moot Court Competitions, Samuel was team captain for two of LSU Law's National Moot Court teams. Samuel also served as a board member of LSU Law's Board of Advocates (formerly Moot Court Board) and President of LSU Law's student tailgate club.

During law school, Samuel formed a keen interest in the fields of Oil & Gas Law, Mineral Rights, Energy Regulations, and Environmental Law. In recognition of Samuel's extensive study and high achievement in these areas, Samuel was awarded a Graduate Certificate in Energy Law & Policy from LSU Law's Laborde Energy Law Center. Samuel hopes to use his knowledge of Energy and Environmental law to advise clients in complex transactional and litigation matters involving the Energy, Petrochemical, and LNG industries.

Samuel is happily married to Kayleigh Kohnke Ducote. In his free time, Samuel enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling abroad, and spending time with his family and friends.
