Our History
In 1876, Frank A. Gallaugher moved to Lake Charles from East Baton Rouge Parish and founded a law practice that has continued to the present day. Attorneys Arsene P. Pujo, Clement D. Moss, and Cullen R. Liskow, founder of the nationally recognized law firm Liskow & Lewis, all practiced with the firm in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In 1959, senior partner John B. “Spike” Scofield joined the firm, and it became known as Porter & Scofield. Richard E. Gerard joined the firm in 1969. In 2012, Patrick D. Gallaugher, a longtime partner and great-grandson of the firm’s founder, was added to the firm name.
